AURORAL (Architecture for Unified Regional and Open digital ecosystems for Smart Communities) is a Horizon 2020 project designed to enhance digital connectivity and smart services across Europe. By fostering regional digital ecosystems, it aims to support smart mobility, energy efficiency, and urban resilience, creating more sustainable and livable cities. As part of this initiative, Latitudo 40 is developing Green Navigator, an innovative platform that integrates Earth Observation data and AI to improve urban mobility by prioritizing thermal comfort, air quality, and environmental sustainability.

Unlike conventional navigation systems that focus solely on speed and efficiency, Green Navigator enables users, including pedestrians and cyclists, to choose routes based on real-time environmental conditions. By processing Sentinel-2 satellite data, analyzing air pollution levels, and mapping urban heat islands, the platform provides insights that help reduce exposure to extreme heat and pollution, making active mobility a more viable and comfortable option. In dense urban areas where heat stress and air quality are significant concerns, this approach contributes to healthier and more sustainable cities.

Through AURORAL, Green Navigator is being integrated into broader smart mobility systems, ensuring compatibility with digital services and transportation networks. The platform supports the European Union’s objectives for sustainable urban development and climate adaptation by offering cities a data-driven approach to mobility planning. Latitudo 40 plays a key role in the project by applying geospatial analytics to visualize urban environmental conditions, using AI to optimize route selection, and ensuring that Green Navigator can be seamlessly adopted by cities and transportation providers.

By combining satellite intelligence, artificial intelligence, and real-time data processing, Green Navigator redefines urban mobility, transforming travel decisions into opportunities for sustainability and well-being.
